About Our Program
Our program at pack 207 is an annual program. We have meetings 12 months out of the year. We have activities 12 months out of the year as well. Our program is pro-family: When the boy joins, the entire family joins.
Parents are encouraged to attend all weekly den meetings. Parents must attend all monthly pack meetings. Our pack is advancement oriented and parents must understand that advancement must be worked on at home as well as in the den meetings and on outings. Your son will only advance if you work on his achievements as a family at home.
From September of the year through the following May, we have a den meeting each week and a monthly pack meeting. The weekly den meetings are held every Tuesday evening. Den meetings start at 6:30 and end at 7:45. Our pack meeting is generally the last Tuesday of the month. Pack meetings start at 6:30 and end at 8:00 pm. All of our meetings are conducted at Wesley Free Methodist Church. Each month we conduct at least one activity. This is a pack activity that the entire family is welcome to attend. These activities include family camping, hiking, field trips, summer camp, lock-ins, etc. District activities are also attended. These include the annual Pinewood Derby race, September Skills Fest, Winter Klondike Derby competition, Trees for Tomorrow, and Scouting for Food.
During the months of June, July, and August, we only have one den meeting a month and one pack outing each month. Traditionally, in July and August, our Cubs attend summer camp.
When we have a pack activity, one parent or guardian must attend with the scout. We encourage you to bring the entire family if possible.
During the summer, the Webelos scouts will attend a 4 day, 3 night resident camp. Wolf and Bear scouts will attend a week long day camp.
Each March, we hold our annual Blue and Gold Banquet. This is the Coup de Gras of cub scouting! This is where we recognize the boys with their rank advancement and other special awards. This is also a special time for us to recognize our leadership. Blue and Gold Banquet is traditionally the setting in which the Welelos scout will "cross over" to Boy Scout troops. Springtime is also the time of the Pinewood Derby race which is the highlight of the year.
You will find that our program is very busy and active. This is the way we like it! We strive to instill the purposes of cub scouting within our program, and I think we succeed.
